Marketing and Communications Executive

  • This is an exciting new position within the marketing and communications team of ethical finance provider, Fair for You. You will be responsible for increasing our profile and building on our excellent reputation with customers, stakeholders, retail partners and investors at a dynamic period of growth and investment into the company. Fair for You is owned by the Fair Credit Charity, whose communications activities you will also support.

    Overall purpose of the role:

    The Marketing and Communications Executive:
    ● Works with Fair for You colleagues across the business and our marketing and communications agencies to support the delivery of the organisation’s marketing and communications strategies.
    ● Will report directly to the Chief Commercial Officer.

    Main duties: 
    Content creation

    ● Preparing content for corporate and consumer communications, working with the relevant partner agencies.
    ● Developing customer case studies to support consumer, stakeholder and investor relations.
    ● Preparing graphics and video content using free or low cost tools. Our current channels include:
    o Facebook, LinkedIn, X (Twitter), Instagram
    o Customer and stakeholder newsletters
    o Fair for You and Fair Credit Charity websites
    ● Reviewing web copy to ensure it is search engine optimised for key terms. This will involve applying style principles and rewriting copy.

    Stakeholder CRM

    ● Increasing the number of engaged recipients of the stakeholder newsletter through identifying and segmenting stakeholder audiences and developing communications in partnership with relevant agencies.

    Supporting customer marketing

    ● This is currently led by our agency partners. However, the role would require creating some content in line with style guidelines and behavioural principles, writing FAQs etc.

    Collecting and spotting trends in data

    ● Oversight of marketing metrics to guide optimisation of marketing work.
    ● Working with colleagues to identify and analyse data that illustrates customer and applicant trends and/or tells stories about the social impact of Fair for You.

    Events

    ● Support for marketing events such as activities with community finance partners, media and stakeholder briefings.
    ● Facilitation of webinars, as required, for stakeholder audiences.

    Media relations

    ● Liaise with external consultants and agencies to provide content to support media relations activity and to ensure results are shared across all channels.

    Marketing measurement and reporting

    ● Prepare communications reports for the CEO’s reports to the Boards of Fair for You and the Fair Credit Charity.

    Competitor monitoring

    ● Monitoring the competitive landscape for developments, threats and opportunities.

    Internal communications
    ● Develop and enhance internal communications with Trustees and colleagues.

    Experience

    Essential

    ● Have written and edited publicly facing content for websites or other channels or publications.
    ● Have experience of monitoring social media and using web and marketing applications, like Google Analytics.
    ● Experience of working in website content management systems.
    ● Knowledge of digital media, including recent developments on the web, in social media and of innovation in leading websites.
    ● Being comfortable with data: acquisition, basic analysis, interpretation and a familiarity with Microsoft Excel would be an advantage.

    Desirable

    ● Understanding of the aims and methods employed in corporate communications and marketing in financial services and/or serving people in financially vulnerable circumstances.
    ● Knowledge of Canva, Photoshop or similar image and/or video manipulation software.

    Skills and Competencies

    ● A high degree of organisation, attention to detail and the ability to keep accurate and up-to-date records.
    ● Ability to prioritise work in a busy environment, keeping colleagues up to date with the status of projects.
    ● Ability to write clear, concise content, appropriate for its target audience.
    ● Ability to learn quickly and work to a high degree of proficiency in web related software applications and provide ongoing training and support to colleagues in the same software.
    ● Ability to interact with colleagues at all levels from across the organisation, explaining the team’s work and aims and negotiating through potential blockages to resolve issues.
    ● Ability to conduct day-to-day discussions with agency suppliers.
