Head of Growth and Social Enterprise Development

  • Primary Objective(s) of the role:

    To drive the development and promotion of both the Selnet organisation and the wider social enterprise sector across Lancashire through an income generation strategy. Whilst further developing Selnet Business support services and membership offer.

    Business Development & Strategic Growth

    Identify and secure new business and funding opportunities in line with Selnet’s mission and priorities.

    Develop and implement plans to grow Selnet’s reach, revenue streams, and programme delivery.

    Design and, events and training relevant to the needs of social enterprises.

    Membership Development

    Review, refresh and develop Selnet’s membership offer to increase and retain members.

    Design and lead income-generating opportunities/activities including regular networking events, workshops, and cross sector knowledge-sharing sessions.

    Organise and deliver Selnet’s Annual Conference and the annual Enterprise in Society Awards.

    Stakeholder & Partnership Engagement

    Build and maintain effective relationships with local authorities, funders, community leaders, and strategic partners.

    Represent Selnet in public forums, stakeholder meetings, and sector-wide collaborations.

    Advocate for collaborative bidding bringing together new and innovative opportunities for members and for the wider VCSE sector.

    Project & Programme Oversight

    Oversee the implementation and coordination of Selnet’s business support programmes.

    Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet agreed outcomes.

    Monitor and evaluate commercial performance, identifying areas for improvement and innovation.

    Monitoring & Reporting

    Develop and manage systems for monitoring performance and evaluating impact.

    Risk Management – capable of identifying, assessing, and proactively managing risks to project delivery and budgets, including implementing effective reporting and contingency plans.

    Produce high-quality reports for stakeholders, funders, and partners and presenting management report to the Selnet Board of Directors a minimum of 6 times per year.

    Internal Leadership

    Work collaboratively with Selnet’s leadership team to align development initiatives with the wider strategy.

    Support and mentor junior staff and colleagues involved in delivery and engagement work.
