About us

Our members aren't just social enterprises.  They also include private businesses, charities and public sector organisations who support our vision of a world where social enterprise is the usual way of doing business.

In 2012 we celebrated our 10th anniversary.  We're here to:

  • Run effective campaigns for our members and to lobby on the sector's behalf
  • Carry out robust and respected research to help paint a picture of the UK's social enterprise movement
  • Build networks between social enterprises
  • Raise the profile of people and social enterprises in the sector

In June 2013 SEUK launched the Social Enterprise Places project, which recognised Alston Moor in Cumbria as the UK's first Social Enterprise Town. If you are interested in nominating your town, city or region as a social enterprise place, click here.

The UK is widely recognised as having the most highly evolved social enterprise sector in the world. This has been achieved through the hard work and efforts of Social Enterprise UK and its members in creating a fertile policy environment where social enterprise can thrive.

Social Enterprise UK has become increasingly involved in helping the social enterprise movement grow internationally. Our Chief Executive, Peter Holbrook, is Chair of the Social Enterprise World Forum.

We organise a range of events, from large conferences to practical workshops. We often collaborate with other organisations to host events and list events on our website organised by our members, partners - and others - that are relevant to social enterprises. See what's coming up.

Book an SEUK speaker for national and international conferences, talks to local authorities, community groups, students at schools, colleges and universities, and to private sector businesses wanting to understand how to enter and engage the social enterprise market.

We provide consultancy services to organisations including Local Authorities, PCTs, social enterprises, charities looking to become more social enterprising and companies seeking to include social enterprise in their CSR programmes.

We aim to influence for social enterprise at the highest level, working with Government partners and mainstream businesses to strengthen our work and make sure social enterprise is at the top of the business and political agendas.
