HILL HOLT HEALTH PROGRAMME

The job will involve facilitating our wellbeing intervention service to small groups of adults who have a range of learning disability, mental health and neurological support needs. Our Health Programme is a nature-based therapeutic service, based on the Ecotherapy or Green Care model. We aim to support adults to engage with the five steps to wellbeing by taking a person-centred, strength-based approach.

The Health Programme is based at our Norton Disney Big Wood site. Wellbeing and recovery is achieved through enabling the participants to sustainably manage the 40 acre woodland, including our woodland burial area, using the harvested resources for conservation and craft activities.

DUTIES WILL INCLUDE

  • Transportation of participants in a works vehicle
  • Working with the Health Coordinator to enable the safety, positive engagement and personal growth of the participants and volunteers, according to their individual support plans
  • According to seasonal needs of the woodland and direction by the Head Ranger, manage the woodland with a team of adults with a variety of abilities and support needs, both physical and emotional, using hand tools wherever possible
  • Ongoing passive education of participants in the needs and methods of conservation and sustainable works and enabling their full participation
  • Planning and facilitating coppice crafting / green-woodworking activities for the participants to engage in, overseeing their safe use of hand tools with occasional support from volunteers
  • The role will also include providing support and cover for our wider organisation and will require some weekend work

KEY SKILLS

  • The successful applicant will possess excellent organisational and motivational skills whilst maintaining patience and empathy with the participants. They will also be able to enthuse and inspire and be able to demonstrate innovative ways of engaging the participants whilst remaining positive role models at all times

  • Compulsory Safeguarding training will need to be completed
  • This post will require an enhanced DBS check
  • Full current driving license is essential
