An update from our Director of Marketing and Member Engagement
Autumn is traditionally the busiest time in our communications calendar with Social Saturday, Social Enterprise Day and our Buy Christmas campaign, not to mention our biggest night of the year – the UK Social Enterprise Awards.
As you may know this year, we’re launching an ambitious new campaign – Buy Social for a Better World which will focus in on the simple message that when you buy from a social enterprise you are helping make the world a better place.
For SEUK members who have been part of our movement a while, this is replacing our Social Saturday campaign which we have been running for the last five years. Social Saturday has been a great campaign, driving engagement and helping raise the profile of the sector but following feedback from our members we thought that this year we’d do something new!
Buy Social for a Better World is a digital campaign which celebrates social enterprises, shining a spotlight on the incredible difference they make. There will be a real focus on the buy social badge, urging shoppers to look out for it and know that when they buy social, they are helping build a better world.
The campaign will involve a week of online activity and will be supported by an exciting augmented reality (AR) experience featuring social enterprise products in-store at The Co-op. This is being supported by Michael Sheen, Caitlin Moran, Chris Addison and Sali Hughes who, through AR, will tell customers about the impact buying social can have. In one of the AR films, Caitlin Moran appears inside a moon cup! It’s so much more interesting than Pokemon Go…
There’s loads of ways to take part, and you can find campaign materials including a sample social media plan, template press releases and more here. Whatever your business, there is a way for you to get involved and make sure that your customers, staff and the wider public know about the incredible difference you are making.
Of course, at a time when viewing figures for BBC Parliament are reaching Love Island levels of popularity, it is impossible to get away from the news at the moment. With a General Election looking increasingly likely we are currently developing our own election strategy at SEUK. Our members will of course be central to any election plans and we will be sending you more information and campaign materials shortly.
