We run, partner and support a wide range of events. See below for examples of recent and upcoming events.
Let’s Talk Good Finance Events
Social investment is often seen as a London-centric activity. It can be harder for social enterprises and charities outside of the capital to access social investors and gain a better understanding of the financial products available.
It offers social enterprises and charities the following opportunities:
- To speak to charity and social enterprise leaders who have already accessed social investment
- To meet potential social investors
- To learn about new social investment initiatives, funds and instruments
- To be able to ask questions in a safe and non-judgemental space
- To understand more about when social investment is not suitable or appropriate
There will be more Let’s Talk Good Finance events in 2018, watch this space!
The Future of Business: Employment solutions in light of Brexit – the untapped labour force
17 January 2018
SEUK West Midlands will be supporting this free half day conference, with lunch, on how employing ex-offenders can help meet future employment and infrastructure needs in light of Brexit.
There are approximately 12,000 prisoners serving sentences in and around the West Midlands, the vast majority of whom are released into the area on completion of their sentence. The conference is an opportunity for representatives from across sectors to gain information on how working with this forgotten yet important community can contribute to the development of the West Midlands, opening up opportunities and creating more social value.
The event will run from 9am – 2pm at the fantastic central venue:
The Cube, Canalside Level 6, 196 Wharfside Street, Birmingham, B1 1RN

The event is being hosted by Prospects, an SEUK West Midlands member and one of the leading providers of careers support in custody and with ex-offenders
SEUK West Midlands Buy social corporate challenge
Spring 2018 date/venue tbc.
The West Midlands has some of the biggest and best businesses in the country. Our Buy Social Corporate challenge engine is beginning to roar and we want local businesses to use their spending power to bring social enterprises into their supply chains.
Just about to enter it’s second year, the Corporate Challenge is seeing some of the biggest companies in the country commit to using their everyday spend through procurement to work with social enterprises. Collectively the aim is to spend £1 billion with the sector by 2020 – it’s an ambitious target but we know that the more businesses we have signed up the easier it will be to reach. We’re planning a event for West Midlands businesses in the Spring which will bring together corporates with local social enterprises. It will be a great opportunity to make new connections, raise the profile of the sector and hopefully win some business.
