Salary: £25,000-£30,000 based on experience

Hour: 35 hours per week

Main purpose of post:

Social enterprises are businesses that are building a fairer, more equal society. Social Enterprise UK is the leading voice of the sector, representing nearly 3,000 organisations, working together to build markets, raise awareness and ensure the government recognises their amazing contribution and supports the sector to grow.

We need a marketeer who is passionate about building a more equal society who can support us in promoting Social Enterprise UK, our programmes and activities as well as the social enterprise sector as a whole.

You will be able to devise and implement inspiring cross channel marketing campaigns to engage new social enterprises in our network, to promote our activities and events and to build a movement of those supporting the social enterprise sector.

Key responsibilities will include:

1. Developing and executing direct marketing plans

  • Develop and deliver a marketing strategy that promotes SEUK membership to ensure the team meets Board delivered targets in member recruitment.
  • Develop a direct/digital marketing strategy that promotes SEUK’s products, services, events and other commercial activity.
  • Lead on the design and delivery of SEUK’s direct marketing plans to help the organisation meet its commercial objectives.
  • Meet revenue generation targets around SEUK’s commercial objectives
  • Identify target audiences, and collate information and data to help reach those audiences
  • Write engaging and relevant copy for marketing collateral, including flyers, banners and guides. 
  • Use e-marketing and social media platforms to support the success of marketing plans.
  • Oversee SEUK’s mass communication with members and other audiences, managing the mailings calendar, executing social media campaigns and keeping track of marketing communications sent out by different teams.
  • Project manage digital initiatives like pop-up sites and the development of new online platforms to support marketing activity.
  • Produce reports on the impact of marketing campaigns and activities including regular reports from Google Analytics, Adestra and social media insights.
  • Assist SEUK’s teams to manage data flows and marketing lists using the organisation’s CRM system and ensure they are GDPR compliant.

2. General marketing and communications activity

  • Create content for SEUK social media accounts (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn) including creating content and input into strategy development
  • Update and editing website with campaign/policy updates, member news, events and jobs
  • Leading on the SEUK monthly newsletters and the quarterly Places newsletter
  • Support on proofing and design on reports
  • Supporting on campaign planning, delivery and assessment
  • Work with other departments across the organisation to maximise engagement with membership recruitment strategy
  • Provide assistance in the initiation, planning and delivery of projects which will include working with internal project teams, and with other stakeholders wherever necessary.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all SEUK teams and external partners.
  • Represent SEUK at external meetings and events, including exhibitions and networking events.
  • Ensure general marketing materials are up-to-date and available when colleagues need them, including exhibition materials.
  • Liaise, commission and brief designers and printers in the production of materials and publications.

3.  General / Organisational

  • Support SEUK’s wider programme of activities where necessary, undertaking other duties when required.
  • Maintain commercial confidentiality about SEUK and partners’ activities.
  • Ensure the implementation of SEUK’s Code of Conduct, Health and Safety policy and Equal Opportunities policy in all areas of the work.
  • Take part in additional aspects of SEUK’s work if necessary. 
  • Ensure that financial procedures are maintained at all times in accordance with SEUK policies.
  • Ensure that all activities for which this post is responsible are carried out in accordance with SEUK’s policies, to the highest ethical standards and in accordance with legal requirements, best practice and external guidelines. 
  • Service own administrative needs, maintain transparent and up to date computer and paper records of work.
  • Act as an ambassador for SEUK as appropriate.

Position in the organisation:

  • The post holder will be required to work closely with colleagues from the Business, Governance, Evidence and Influencing teams of Social Enterprise UK
  • The post holder will report to the Director of Marketing and Member Engagement

Person Specification

Experience/ Qualifications

Essential

  • Experience in managing direct marketing campaigns
  • Experience in working with multiple social media accounts
  • A high degree of organisational skills with excellent attention to detail and ability to plan and prioritise workload, successfully plan meetings and meet deadlines
  • Excellent telephone manner and able to communicate and sell effectively to a range of audiences
  • Experience of using Google Analytics and other social media analytics tools to guide future content

Desirable

  • Experience of working in a social enterprise, community or voluntary organisations
  • Educated to Graduate level with relevant experience

Knowledge/ Skills

Essential

  • Ability to use design packages (Adobe/Canva) to create visually engaging content
  • Experience using analytics/insights for social media and websites to guide future content
  • Ability to prioritise a large and varied amount of administrative duties and deliver to tight timescales
  • Tact and ability to develop contact and build relationships, diplomacy and respect for confidentiality
  • Fully conversant with Microsoft packages (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and familiar with CRM systems (such as Salesforce)
  • Excellent interpersonal and written and oral communication skills
  • Open, assertive and good humour
  • An understanding of and commitment to Diversity and Equality as it applies to the work place
