Social Enterprise UK is expanding its team welcoming Dr Claire Mansfield, as Director of Research, and Professor Jo Pritchard MBE, as Director of Health and Social Care. The new appointments signify a renewed emphasis by Social Enterprise UK to demonstrate the impact of social enterprises, through building a firm evidence base of the difference they are making, in service to the public and the UK as a whole.

Claire will be leading on SEUK’s research work as we look to build upon the economic, political and social case for social enterprise and how to make this resonate with key influencers beyond our traditional audiences. She is joining us from the New Local Government Network and has published numerous articles on commissioning reform, community development and re-invigorating public services.

Jo Pritchard is well known for having led CSH Surrey since its inception, one of the very first staff-owned social enterprises to spin-out of the public sector. She’ll be heading up our new strategy in health and social care, working with our members in this area to better evidence and articulate their impact and needs and make the argument for the positive role social enterprises play in delivering health and social care services.

Commenting on the appointments, Peter Holbrook Chief Executive of Social Enterprise UK said:

“We are really excited to welcome Claire and Jo to our team. They bring with them a wealth of experience and skills and will be invaluable in raising the profile and impact of the sector. Our members consistently cite the value of our policy, influencing and campaigning work and these new appointments will help us build a better evidence base of the power of social enterprises in the areas critically important to the public. With the health and social care system moving from crisis to crisis and an economy still skewed in the interests of the few, we look forward to working with Jo and Claire to really push forward the social enterprise alternative and redefine what the future of business can look like.”

Claire will be starting at SEUK at the end of February and Jo will be joining the team at the end of March.
