This report has been written for the Social Market Foundation and looks at what lessons must be learned from the policy response to the 2008 financial crisis. It’s key focus that for Britain to “bounce back” from coronavirus , business must spend more money on investing in innovation, training and start-ups. In exchange for the unprecedented levels of financial support the state has given business during the crisis, the report says, companies should make public promises to devote future profits to investment. Central to any recovery must be social enterprise.
