The world has been rocked and will now be forever changed with the impact of COVID-19 on so many aspects of our lives, from travel, to the way we work. This is a time in history like no other, so we should take the opportunity to reflect on what this means for the future of work.
The mass exodus from office buildings to home-based work has brought both benefits and challenges. Parents have been able to spend more time with their children and have a healthier work life balance. But this has come with feelings of disconnection with the wider world, friends and colleagues and the challenges of working with home distractions.
Many have taken this time away from the office to re-evaluate priorities, lifestyle, and what makes them happy. The old ways of working are over, with people wanting more flexibility, collaboration and genuine connection in the way they work. We now have an opportunity presented to us to pivot towards a system of work that allows people flexibility and improved wellbeing in their working lives.
At Impact Hub King’s Cross, we’ve been offering this more flexible, friendly and affordable way of working from day one, it’s what we do, and we’re so glad to be back in the Hub with our amazing members, after three-months at home. We had a quick chat with a few of them to hear about their experiences being back in the Hub.
Peter from The Proofreading Company told us, “Returning to the Hub has been a huge relief after months of blurred lines in my tiny flat, and it’s proven to be a long-awaited boost to my productivity. It really feels as though the measures in place are ensuring that the Hub is a safe place to work. Thanks to the whole team for all their efforts to get us back to coworking!” – Peter Clayburn, The Proofreading Company.
We also caught Landysh from Ryedale, who told us, “It felt good to be back at the Impact Hub Kings Cross two weeks ago for the first time in all these months! The Hub team has done a fantastic job in making sure members can safely work and connect with innovative and passionate changemakers while enjoying the energy of a shared workspace.” – Landysh Yanborisova, Ryedale
