Prior to SEUK, Peter was chief executive of Sunlight Development Trust. During his time there Peter became one of the country’s most well-respected social entrepreneurs, responsible for the regeneration of some of the UK’s most deprived communities. In 2007, Peter was appointed one of the UK’s Social Enterprise Ambassadors – a scheme supported by the Cabinet Office. Charlie Wigglesworth - Deputy Chief Executive Charlie is responsible for managing and growing SEUK’s relationships with corporate partners, helping find sponsors for events and publications, and building closer links between social enterprises and the wider private sector to create real social value. He's also the first port of call for anyone interested in finding out more about SEUK’s consultancy work. Lord Victor Adebowale CBE - Chair Lord Victor is Chair of Social Enterprise UK and is currently Chief Executive of the social enterprise, Turning Point which he joined in 2001. He is a champion for the cause of those affected by poverty, mental health issues, drugs, alcohol, learning disability and complex needs. Victor began his career in housing and was Chief Executive of Centre Point, the National Youth Homelessness Charity from 1995 until 2001. Patrons Michael Sheen OBE Michael Sheen has joined Social Enterprise UK as a patron and supporter and will be working with us to promote and champion social enterprise models that can help tackle our most pressing challenges. Claire Dove OBE DL Claire has recently been named the Crown Representative of the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise sector and is Chief Executive of Blackburne House, a Liverpool based organisation that works regionally and nationally and has empowered thousands of women into careers in non- traditional areas such as construction. Claire Dove is a key player in the social enterprise movement and has served two terms as SEUK's Chair. Baroness Glenys Thornton Baroness Glenys Thornton is the current Shadow Spokesperson (Health) for The House of Lords. As a backbench peer, Glenys was involved in charity, social innovation and social enterprise debates for 10 years. She helped to put through the Community Interest Company Right to Request legislation and the Social Value Act. Glenys founded what became Social Enterprise UK in 2001. Chris Addison Chris Addison has recently joined Social Enterprise UK as a patron and supporter. Chris will be working closely with us to help champion the work of social enterprises and spread the message of the impact they have on society. Chris described social enterprise as a “sector that is taking the best of people’s entrepreneurial talent, the best of their energy and putting this back into the community.” Lord John Bird MBE John Bird is the force behind The Big Issue, the world's most successful street magazine. He is an inspirational business leader with an outstanding record of using enterprise as a tool for social change.
