Membership Package

As we relaunch our membership offer we will need you to certify that you meet our definition of a social enterprise. This will strengthen your ability to be recognised as a certified social enterprise by consumers and other businesses.

Our expectations of social enterprises are as follows:

  • Your business has a clear social or environmental mission that is set out in its governing documents.
  • You are an independent business and earn more than half of your income through trading (or are working towards this)
  • You are controlled or owned in the interests of your social mission
  • You reinvest or give away at least half your profits or surpluses towards your social purpose
  • You are transparent about how you operate and the impact that you have

Please email [email protected] for a copy of the certifying form.

Below are the key features of your free membership package:

  • You will continue to be invited to exclusive SEUK networking events and have the opportunity to engage with our expanding network of social enterprises, corporate partners and wider partners
  • Discounts and priority booking for events will be made available to you
  • You will be able to partake in our webinars free of charge – covering topics from trust law to how to most effectively engage journalists through your online content.
  • On top of this you will continue to receive regular communications updates and newsletters from SEUK that will support you and your social enterprise

You are part of an ever-expanding and thriving network of social enterprises and we encourage you to wear your certified social enterprise badge proudly!

If you would like to continue to support Social Enterprise UK and the sector more widely please leave your direct debit in place as a donation or set one up here. If you are interested in upgrading to paid membership there are further benefits available, you can read about these here.

Q: Why have you made membership free for small and start up social enterprises?

A: We want to build upon the excellent work the sector is doing; as the largest network and leading authority we want to increase our mandate and representation. We recognise how difficult it is for social enterprises in the early stages of business development – we therefore are opening are doors to allow everyone to join the movement as early as possible.

Q: I used to be a ‘£75’ member and now my membership is free – will I be provided with the same services and benefits?

A: By making membership free we have had to slightly revise the membership package. The main changes are as follows:

  • Access to our online members area is now only available to paid members
  • Free members can access but will not be able to host webinars
  • Free members cannot access our specialised paid for services
  • As a free member support from SEUK will be mostly via email communication rather than over the phone
