Turning Point have an exciting opportunity for an external affairs advisor to join the team. You will be reporting into the Head of External Affairs and working within a wider external affairs, marketing and internal communications team. The main duties of the role will revolve around undertaking policy research, speech writing and preparing briefings for our senior leadership team, in particular our Group Managing Director and our Chief Executive. You will be responsible for:

  • Keeping up to date on the policy environment as it applies to health and social care with a particular focus on mental health, learning disability and substance misuse
  • Providing summaries and briefings on key issues and developments
  • Writing articles and blogs
  • Helping organise meetings of the APPG on Complex Needs and Dual Diagnosis
  • Drafting responses to government consultations We are looking for someone with excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a good eye for detail and the ability to get their head around a topic quickly and build relationships with others working across the organisation. Knowledge of health and social care policy is essential.
  • Experience of working for a health and social care provider is desirable.
