Covid-19 (Coronavirus) is already having an impact on businesses across the country and social enterprises are no exception. We know these next few months are going to be ones of uncertainty and fear and we want to let you know that we are here to support you in whatever way we can.

We certainly do not have all the answers and we are entering unchartered territory for everyone, but we will ensure that we are doing all we can to be there for the social enterprise community. We’re here to offer and signpost towards practical support and also ensure that your voice is not ignored by Government.

This page will be updated as often as possible with the latest news and resources to help us collectively get through the coming days. We will be organising webinars with sector leaders sharing their own thoughts on issues from HR to finance and will be looking at other ways to enable our community to support each other. 7 MAY : BRIEFING – SUPPORT FOR SOCIAL ENTERPRISES – Recently updated guide to the support and resources out there which will help the social enterprise community at this time. Now includes information on bounce back loans and grants from local authorities as well as information on the COVID-19 Business Interruption Loan Scheme, the Job Retention Scheme, the £370m grant scheme administered through the National Lottery Community Fund and the £100m Resilience and Recovery Loan Fund.

20 MAY: KEY ISSUES FOR SOCIAL ENTERPRISES IN PUBLIC SERVICE DELIVERY: PROCUREMENT AND CONTRACTS – Social enterprises delivering public services are facing extremely serious challenges due to COVID-19. From drastic changes in the volume and nature of demand, to having to change or even suspend their services, many have had to quickly adapt. The government’s Procurement Policy Notes encouraged all contracting authorities to support suppliers – but what does the guidance mean in practice? And what steps should suppliers take to manage their contractual obligations? Augustus Della-Porta, Partner in the Charity & Social Enterprise Department at Bates Wells, goes into more details.

27 APRIL WEBINAR: THE RESILIENCE AND RECOVERY LOAN FUND + GOVERNMENT SUPPORT – Nick Temple CEO at the Social Investment Business ran through how the new the Resilience and Recovery Loan Fund, administered by SIB, works for social enterprises. He was joined by SEUK’s Andrew O’Brien who gave an overview of the current state of government funding for our sector.
