Did you know 44% of bread is never eaten and that the food industry is the biggest contributor to climate change?

Toast ale is a social enterprise on a mission to change this selling award-winning craft beer brewed with surplus fresh bread that would otherwise be wasted.

So far Toast has saved a remarkable 1,957,042 slices of bread from going to waste By using surplus bread to replace virgin barley it has also considerably reduced the demand for land, water and energy, and avoided emissions. Toast is showing the massive difference that just one business can make, saving 42 tonnes of CO2 emissions through its sustainable business model.

All of Toast’s profits are also donated to charities helping end food waste, helping fund systemic change to fix the food system.

As well as a commitment to combatting climate change, Toast is also very much a social enterprise set up to support communities, struggling with issues of food poverty. Over lockdown it worked with charity Food for All to create a Meal Deal which has supplied over 46,000 meals for people in need, funded through the proceeds made on their online shop.
