We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Manager to join the Forward Trust.

Business Development sits right at the heart of Forward, working with partners from across the organisation to develop compelling new service offers for some of the most excluded people in society. Business Development Managers take a leading role across the business development lifecycle, from identifying and evaluating potential new opportunities and developing innovative new delivery models, through to assisting with the implementation of contracts we win.

The role

The Business Development Manager will take a leading role, regularly presenting work to, and collaborating with, members of the Senior Management Team. This ranges from making recommendations on individual opportunities, to proposing the case for expanding our service offer into complementary markets.

Tendering for opportunities is a core part of the role. You would be responsible for developing compelling service offers – coordinating the work of operational Subject Matter Experts, the Finance team, HR, Facilities, Governance, and Fundraising and Communications. Day to day you will project manage the process with tact and sensitivity, and simultaneously oversee a successful writing process that results in high quality technical bid responses, completed to tight timescales.

You will go beyond bidding for set opportunities in pre-determined markets, feeding into larger strategic decisions. These will include the external markets and partners engages with, as well as internal change projects the organisation needs to undergo to remain competitive and deliver a quality service. You will also be supported to learn new skills in areas of interest, identify self-development goals, and pursue avenues for career progression.

The role sits within the Research and Development Team, the Business Development Manager will work closely with our Researchers to ensure our proposals are evidence-based and reflect the latest developments in the sector.

In-depth knowledge of drug and alcohol misuse treatments and markets is not a prerequisite for the role. The successful candidate will be supported by colleagues in the Research and Operational teams to build a broad substance misuse knowledge-base.
