Chris White, author of the Social Value Act and former MP for Warwick and Leamington has joined the Social Enterprise UK Board.

Chris is currently Director of the Institute for Industrial Strategy at King’s College London and whilst in Parliament served as a member of the International Development and Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Select Committees.

Commenting on his appointment Chris said:

“I’m delighted to be joining the Social Enterprise UK Board. SEUK is an organisation I’ve been involved with for many years, not least with regards to their major contribution to the Social Value Act, a piece of legislation which continues to have a transformative and increasing impact on commissioning.  Social enterprises have the potential to change the way we do business – commercially aware, but dedicated to the public good. I look forward to helping grow this movement and develop the social value agenda further so that commissioners in all sectors can see the benefits of working with social enterprises.”

Last year Chris authored a review of the Social Value Act, Our Money, Our Future’ for Social Enterprise UK which looked into the Act's effect on public sector spending, it called for the Act to be strengthened and  extended to all public spending.
