Many social enterprises are set up with the aim of helping people who are disadvantaged in the labour market to find work. This means that social enterprises often provide fantastic opportunities for people to receive training and learn new skills.

From media companies and community transport organisations, to managed woodlands and childcare providers, social enterprises are working hard to ensure that people across the UK are able to develop their skills and broaden their opportunities for employment.

The Government has ambitious aspirations for ensuring that people in Britain have the education and skills that they need to succeed in life, and that Britain needs to ensure that we have a globally competitive workforce.

We are working hard to make sure that the Department for innovation, Universities and Skills and the Department for Work and Pensions recognise the contribution of social enterprises in equipping people with the skills and confidence to participate in the workforce.

We are also lobbying Government to ensure that social enterprises which provide training and help improve people's opportunities for employment have equal access to the market.
