Policy Forum at the AGM

The Social Enterprise Coalition held its Annual General Meeting on the 2nd December 2008.  Prior to the meeting the Policy Team held the Annual Policy Forum, a consultation exercise to capture the ideas of the movement to shape the work of the Coalition.  All members were welcome.

We started with an opening exercise, an ice breaker looking at what the future political realm would look like.  This was followed by exercises to generate attendee's ideas to answer three questions, grouping them, then voting on their importance.  The voting is indicated on the report back.

The question the forum were asked to consider were,

  • What does social enterprise need to do to manage through the recession?
  • What does the current government need to do to support social enterprise through the recession?
  • What does the next government need to do to support social enterprise?
  • What is the value of social enterprise in a recession?

After voting to prioritise the attendees were asked to identify the barriers and enablers to achieving their proposed actions.

You can view the findings of the Policy Forum on the presentation here.  The results will inform the priorities of the Coalition work in 2009 alongside ongoing member engagement.
