Parliamentary and political
The Social Enterprise Coalition (SEC) has been successful in ensuring that the social enterprise agenda is supported by all of the main political parties.
We work hard to influence the positions of these political parties, in order to ensure that social enterprise is understood and supported regardless of who is in power. This work includes attending party conferences, influencing election manifestos and working with think tanks across the political spectrum.
In advance of the 2010 General Election, SEC launched a political campaign to raise the profile of social enterprise.
This included publishing a Social Enterprise Manifesto which we produced in consultation with our members and the wider social enterprise movement. We also produced a campaign pack to support social enterprises to lobby their local MPs and prospective parliamentary candidates. The manifesto and campaign packs were published in February 2010 and are available on the campaigns section of the website.
Alongside our party political work, we aim to raise the awareness and understanding of social enterprise amongst all parliamentarians. Our work in this area includes running the secretariat for the All Party Parliamentary Group on Social Enterprise, which holds several events per year in parliament.
