Since its inception in 2005 there are now more than 2000 Community Interest Companies (CIC). The Coalition believes the CIC model has an important role to play within the social enterprise movement and is keen to ensure that it continues to grow and remains an effective and increasingly recognised legal structure for social enterprises.

The CIC forum is intended to provide a platform to discuss some of the issues faced by CICs, to increase collaboration and to share best practice.

The first CIC forum was held on 8 May 2008 at King's College London and a second took place in Birmingham on 24 November 2008 at the Concept Conference Centre. Both were well-attended by CICs who used the opportunity to discuss issues including finance, governance, tax and brand awareness. The Coalition looks forward to continue working with CICs to take these policy areas forward.
