SEUK Chair, Claire Dove, appointed to Charity Commission Board
Chair of Social Enterprise UK and CEO of award-winning social enterprise Blackburne House, Claire Dove MBE, has been invited onto the Board of the Charity Commission for England and Wales.
Commenting on her role, Claire said:
"While some charities have been embracing the social enterprise model as part of their work for years, many are not and others are still in the dark about what social enterprise is. With traditional funding streams drying up, charities are without question feeling the squeeze. Cuts to local authority budgets and government grant programmes combined with reports of fewer people giving are causing worry and financial pain.
"Trading can make a charity more sustainable, help it to grow and provide new ways to engage and support service users. The social enterprise movement is keen to reach out to greater numbers of charities who may be keen to explore if trading could benefit them and their causes."

Claire is one of six new Board members and will take up the post on 1st July. Claire was recently awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award in the Queen's Award for Enterprise Promotion.
