Leadership-Development

Recognising that leadership development plays a fundamental part in the future success of the social enterprise movement, Social Enterprise UK has developed a ‘Social Enterprise Leadership Development programme’ which will be delivered by Real Partners CIC.

The programme is currently funded by Big Lottery's BASIS programme but will continue once this funding has finished, and the course developed and tailored for the following three professional groups:

Social Enterprise Emerging Leaders

SEUK and Real Partners CIC delivered a successful programme for Emerging Leaders earlier in 2011, with a number of Development Days being hosted at Milton Keynes social enterprise, The Buszy. The Development Days were complemented by case study visits to local social enterprises Green Works and The Healthy Hub, as well as one-to-one coaching support.

Here is what some of our delegates had to say about it:

“Brilliant inspirational speakers, loved them and the days”

“It has given me the confidence to lead an organisation based on my vision and values”

“The opportunity to consider and relate theory in to practice and discuss operational challenges was hugely beneficial”

“As a result of attending I have an increased knowledge of enterprise models and can now support the development of further opportunities for us”

Take a look here at our case studies telling the story of what some of the Emerging Leaders gained from the course.

And below, hear a number of Emerging Leaders talk about what makes a good leader in the sector today.

Social Enterprise Senior Leaders

Following the Emerging Leaders programme was a course specifically for senior leaders of social enterprises, those in chief executive and management positions. The course took a similar format to the Emerging course, with visits to Stride and Bright Kidz, and the Development Days hosted at Leicester social enterprise Highpoint Conference Centre. Both the Emerging and Senior courses will come together for a Social Enterprise Leadership Networking event in early 2012.

Here is what some of our delegates had to say about their experience on our Leadership course:

"Totally fabulous, effective and challenging also! I felt completely supported and understood."

"The toolkits are great- high quality and will continue to be used long after the course."

"The live case study days added real value and worked well with the workshops."

The course will start in March with a 2-Day Enterprise (14-15 March), followed by a 1-Day Leadership Excellence Workshop on 19 April. These days will be complemented by One-to-One Coaching sessions and Networking events.
